Which one gives you your recommendation letter?

b. The head of the English department
c. The recruitment agency you work for

Why do you always post like a newbie? Every single post that you start is 100% newbie, however you claim to be a 10 year veteran teacher.

Why do you ask questions like this?

Probably better to ask someone at your school who WILL write a letter than Davies who SHOULD write a letter. Personally, I would take one from anyone who speaks English and will give me one. That's not to say I would ever be desperate but that it doesn't matter as long as someone there is willing to vouch for you. Best would be the person whose English is best. You want a reference on your resume from the same person who wrote your letter of rec. I would think. No point in having a reference on your resume from someone who speaks no English. Make it the same person and I think you're set. If nobody speaks English then write one for yourself and get it signed by the highest ranking person willing to sign it.

It depends on the PS province you work for. I trudged through a lot of crap last year (Gyeongnam POE) but they refused to write me a rec letter. I had a couple teachers who would have like to (I even wrote the letter they just had to sign), but the standard procedure in my old province was that you ask the coteacher, the coteacher confer with the other coteachers, then they ask the VP who asks the principal who puts in an official request and you get an official document from the province.

Needless to say I said forget that, and I just waited for the Letter of Release/Proof of Employment letter from the POE so I could get the heck out of that province! So it depends on where you are pretty much.

I just got through working 2 years at the same EPIK school. I had nothing but contempt for my co-teacher at that school, so needless to say I won't be asking for a recommendation letter from the school. However one of the 6th grade teachers that i liked and spoke good english, left to teach at another school, I should be able to circumvent the Official Korean Recomendation System and get a recommendation from her.

Somebody needs to really put together a serious blacklist site for schools that mess around with peoples careers. I keep hearing that they're going to but nobody seems to do it.
