|
|
I recently made my first order off G market and it did not go smoothly.
The prices are good, especially compared to what the rip-off merchants at the second-hand stores around yongsan want for their crap. The problem is many of the sellers don't speak English so arranging delivery is an issue.
I would recommend calling the seller before you make a purchase and making sure they can delivery when you want. |

Every time I've ordered off Gmarket, they've just left the stuff with the security guy at the entrance to my building. You might get random phone calls, but just say 'kyeong-bi shil juseyo.' That means security guards office. If ordering furniture though, order your stuff on Thursday afternoon, so it'll be delivered Saturday morning. |

If you're a teacher, get stuff delivered to your school. Just leave a memo asking to deliver during business hours. Of course, for large items, this would be a pain. My security office actually rejects packages... for how much I pay those guards in my officetel per month, they damn well should though. |

Makes me thankful I live in a new apartment with passworded delivery boxes
But how good is delivery here. I sometimes get stuff here on the day day. Back in Australia it was like a week. |

That's been my experience up until now. I've had an order marked as 'On Request' for over 48 hours now...
EDIT: Nevermind, my co-teach called to say it just arrived in school. 2 days, just how I like it.

Delivery time depends on the place you order from and their location. I give it up to a week for some items, particularly if they're coming from a rural area.
In any case, it's best to have your address written in Korean and not English, and then learn how to (or have a Korean friend) fill out instructions on where to put the delivery if you aren't around.
Since I'm often not home, most of my deliveries go to a secret spot right behind my apartment so I don't have to put any extra burden on my landlord.
I haven't had a single problem using Gmarket, but I strongly recommend using it with a Korean accomplice until you are able to figure it all out yourself and get discount coupons, etc. |

I get everything delivered to my work. Large orders, I write in the MEMO field before you submit your order to leave the goods by my front door. |
