I have heard there is a place in Thailand near Pattaya that is great for families. There are not many whores and stuff, and there's some big waterpark.

Is it called Jomtien? Or am I wrong?

If anyone knows the name of this place, please let me know. Also, if anyone has actually been there, please enlighten me on how it is.

Thanks in advance.

Jomtien is at the south end of Pattaya. It is away from walking street and the downtown beach front that is "less than kid friendly".

The beach there is nothing special but you are only a short boat ride away from nice beaches etc. It is not too far to the water park either.

As to "ladies of the evening" - you can find them anywhere you find tourists. It is a fact of economic reality - they can make more money in a weekend with a farang than they can in a month of real work so they go where the tourists are.

They just don't jump out at you as much in Jomtien but they are there if you ask or look.

Ko Samet (a small island) isn't too further away from Pattaya, and a whole lot more family friendly than anything round Pattaya. Why not try there?

I just got back from Ko Lipe and the majority of the tourists there were families from Scandinavia. Highly recommended. It is not at all built up and nowhere near as touristy as the likes of Samui, Phi Phi, Phuket....I will not go to the latter 3 places again after having gone to Lipe....Lipe is fantastic for families and still rather unknown to many backpackers thankfully. Ko Tarutao national park is the island before and great too. The further you get away from Pattaya the better, a horrible place.
