Has anyone on here run the Seoul Marathon? Were there bathrooms on the course of the race? Or were they just at the beginning and end?

I've run it 3 times and always did quite well. So ask away....

Lots of toilets along the course. Don't worry. But also, think like a real experienced runner -- any corner or brick wall will do (unless a woman). Runner's love to do it in the road....

Well run event. I've run many around the world and this is one of the top organized events. However given the time of year and your starting position, can be DAMN cold at the starting line. Bring old clothes to toss away...

Thanks. It's my first marathon and I am just planning on finishing. No records here. I'll be happy with anything below the cutoff time of 5 hours.

Is it true they pass out choco pies during the race? I don't think I could stomach chocolate while running.

Thanks again.

March 21st sounds like a terrible time to hold a marathon. Gotta do all your training in the winter? Eww.

I've seen them jog by. They looked very cold and miserable. It looked like the perfect event for people who enjoy punishing themselves.

Has anyone seen people wearing MP3 players during the Seoul Marathon? There is not much information on the English section of their website.

Many marathons ban them. I am hoping that is not the case with this marathon.

Any form of technological convenience banned in Korea for any reason? I'd have to assume the world was coming to an end if I heard about something like that.

The air looks pretty good today, a la http://www.airkorea.or.kr/airkorea/eng/realtime/main.jsp, but is it safe and/or healthy to run for such a distance when it's really terrible out there (like Mon/Tue of this week)?

No problems. I ran it last year and had my ipod on the whole time. The only race I've ever done in Korea where you aren't allowed to use an mp3 player is when you move on to triathlons.

Last year in the book that came with the t-shirt and race number it said that mp3 players weren't allowed, I haven't had a chance to check out this year's book. But, I saw lots of people using them at the race. Like most rules in Korea, it's not strictly followed.

Hello All!!

I am new to Korea and very interested in continuing my workouts. I was hoping to run in the marathon that takes place in November. Does anyone have any information about other races that occur between now and November. Also, what about good places to run, trails and what not. Thanks for your time!!

Race schedule (in Korean)

http://www.roadrun.co.kr/schedule/list.php

Good places to run would depend on where you live. I lived in Jeju (at the university) and there were places to run everywhere. Unless it's polluted or simply a port anywhere the beaches are should be nice. Quiet towns with the mountains will really improve your leg strength.
