Is there more then one franchise called Ewah or are they only the one?

Particularly, if anyone has any information about Ewah in Hwamyung dong, Busan I would love to hear it.

Thanks

The chain Ewha American Language School is all one chain, but some of the branches are company and some are franchises owned by a random person. That creates a fair bit of variety in working conditions from one to the other.

I worked at one and it was about the best you can expect from a hagwon, never had any serious problems in more than two years there, but I've heard bad things about other ones. Mine was company - pay and stuff all came down from head office so never a problem. I think the problems really only come at the franchises. I didn't work in Busan, so I can't help you with information about the branch(es) there, sorry. Be sure to talk to people who work there since information about the chain alone will not really help, the swings are too big from branch to branch.

I worked for an Ewha branch owned by HQ who were pretty good. They do hellish intensive sessions though.

15 classes? 30, 40 or 50 minute classes? What are the hours worked in the intensive sessions?

Every January and August they run 4-5 week intensive sessions from 8am to 9pm. They offered all the teachers at my branch all 15X40min classes per day.

Lots of BS about how much overtime we would make. Basically just appealing to our greed. I worked out the money and it added up to no more than 740,000won extra for 5 weeks of just working and sleeping. I didn't go for it and asked for no more than 8X40min classes every day. They agreed but were surly and petty with me from then on. It seems I let the company down by not teaching for 9 hours a day!!!!
