http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentaport_Rock_Festival

Never been as I don't really like rock festivals anymore, especially when I have to sleep in a tent during that sticky month. It's very expensive too but provides one of the only major rock happenings in this country. I think there is one in Busan too but that might just be for a day.

I went to Pentaport last year and the lineup kinda stank. They had a huge show a few years ago like Muse, Black Eyed Peas, Chili Peppers, etc, but they've gone lame.

The World DJ Festival was alright last year, but I heard the same thing about prior years being better. However, I had a great time at that event.

I'm so glad I'll be in California for Coachella this April.

Busan Rock Festival at Dadepo Beach occurs in the summer. Runs 2-3 days with Korean and intenational bands. Everything from Death Metal to pop.

There are some local bands you can check out in Hongdae or Itaewon. If you want dance pop We Need Surgery are pretty good. If you like soundscapes, there is a band called Kachisan who play rock songs that segue into Mogwai-esque epics.
You missed a good gig in Hongdae on Saturday. Angry Bear and Frenzy were playing at DGBD.
I think Kachisan is playing at Freebird this Friday, and WNS play quite often.
They probably all have facebook profiles so you can check them.

Hope this helps.
