I lived in Bundong back in 2000, and I can tell you it's one the best places to live. You're close to Samsung Plaza (Subway), coffee shops, restaurants and best thing there...there are nice parks around. Also, your only 20-30 min away from Seoul and not stuck in the city. As for foreigners there...lots around that work in other schools in the area...I'm sure you'll bump into them once in a while. Bundong is a rich area too...so if you want to do privates, it's a good place too.

Hope this helps
Good luck!

Seongnam has two very distinct sides to it. Old Seongnam city (raw urban working class korea complete with thousands of love hotels, prostitutes, dog market, gangsters etc..) and Bundang-gu.....a modern middle-class suburb with clean streets, good schools, rich parents, western-orientated shops and restaurants, and very little of what goes on up in Seongnam city.

Seongnam city and Bundang-gu are divided around the point of Yatap Station.

Sorry. Don't know anything about Sanseong. It could be a nice area. Some parts of Seongnam city are fairly nice. I lived for a year near Sinheung Station which was a pretty rough but totally vibrant and a lot of fun if you didn't mind a few rough edges.

Yeah man, you're in the ghetto. 산성 (sanseong) is on the pink subway line
(line 8 ). I worked in the area a few years ago. You'll see a different side of Korea, that's for sure.
Until I worked there, I thought that Koreans were all rich! Of course, that's because the only Koreans I had contact with were the parents of my students.

That will be mostly up to you. You could have a good a time there as anywhere. There's nothing wrong with Sanseong. It's just working class.

There aren't a lot of English hagwons in Seongnam city so not a lot of foreigners. You'll be pretty close to Seoul though.

any other new info on Seongnam city, -- close to Sanseung subway station ?

There is a public middle school that wants me to start there end of May. It is a public school position but they say it is an English hand-on practice center, and students come to this center and help the students with hands-on experience in English (and there are 4 foreign teachers working there)

It seems like it would be pretty close to Gangnam, closer than living in Bundang.
