What makes you think Android is superior? I know Google is already developing NFC technology for their 2.3 gingerbread release which will be pretty awesome and could be a huge game changer. What are some of your reasons for supporting Android over Apple other than not being limited by Apple's restrictions and lack of flash. I think Apple has a great looking OS and using it is very intuitive.
I already have two custom flamethrower assembles that attach to my wrist able to sear squid in 1.8 seconds from a distance of 10ft. |

From what I've seen:
Apple is a little more stable and runs a little faster.
Android is more versatile and expandable (user access to battery, sim card and sd slot). Android has more phone options.
App store goes to apple now, but I read somewhere that the android market will surpass apple by around 2013.
I like android better, but there's no doubt that iOS is a great system too. Generally, you won't be unhappy with either. |

Android may surpass Apple in the number of Apps, but the number of "quality" apps will still be in Apple's favor.
The main reason is MONEY. There is a lot of data out there that shows that Apple AppStore users spend more for Apps than Android users. Which platform do you think Developers will keep as their priority?
Money talks, and until Android users are willing to pay as much for Apps than Apple users, the AppStore will continue to be in Apple's favor.
My 2 cents on the Android versus Apple debate, I think Appleis better. I can pickup any Apple phone, from the Iphone 1 to the Iphone 4 and I can use it, easily.
It seems everytime I pick up an Android phone, there is a learning curve involved. Whether its HTC Incredible, or Samsung Galaxy, or whatever, the UI is not easy to use.
This is because it has been customized to the user. Yes, you are the master of your phone and you have no problems using it. Pick up your buddy's android phone and you will be confused as to how he has customized his OS.
Iphone 1-4, Ipad 1-2, anyone who has owned one of those devices can easily pick up another and use. Customization is a plus for some people, but I think it is a minus. While home in the US, I was without a cell phone and had to constantly ask people to use theirs. Android devices were a pain in the butt to use. Some phones you swipe left or right to access Apps. Others you scroll up and down. Some of them you gotta access the home menu and go to Apps.
Hardware-wise, Android wins hands down. Style-wise, Apple wins. Android phones jsut look generic. If I put 5 android phones in front of you, can you honestly say that you can tell me which model is what? What company made what?
Whereas, Apple's products are easily identifiable. No one will mistake an Iphone for a HTC, LG, Samsung, etc...
I'm not bashing Android, I'm just telling how it is. I like Android phones. It seems new features have to come out on Android before Apple considers putting it in the Iphone (multitasking, folders, etc...). This is great and I hope Android will continue to innovate in order to keep Apple from being complacent.
If it weren't for Android, Apple would be just releasing their Iphone 3GS spec phone now. Competition is a wonderful thing. |

Except people do make mistakes, I have a GalaxyS and everyone always asks if it's an iphone, I don't know if thats a plus or minus in the brainwashing stakes really. Probably a minus to android if people 'expect' your new phone to be an apple.
I wouldn't say the iphone is stylish anyway, its advertised make people think its stylish. other phones just follow the common sense 4" touchscreen formula, how different can they look really? |

The apple OS is intuitive and hasnt changed in awhile, which may be its greatest strength, comfortability.
if you want a good phone and want something to use, get iphone.
if you want something to play with and customize, get android.
i have a feelig i will spend much more time looking at my android, than using it. it is pretty, i am excited for the galaxy s2, before i upgrade my phone. |

I have an iPhone and a Galaxy tab.
The iPhone OS is more stable. It basically doesn't mess up. The Android operating system on the tab is a little unstable.
With the iPhone I never used it for watching videos.. too much hassle unless you shop through iTunes. With the Tab however I can just drag and drop. This is a major major advantage over iOS.
The App store has way better apps than the Android marketplace at the moment. Hopefully more and more of the food apps will be converted to Android though.
When I next upgrade my phone I'm not sure what I'll do. At the moment I'm thinking Android though. Living in Korea there's going to be more support for Android in the long run because Samsung and LG use it. The removable batteries, drag and drop files and bigger screen sizes will probably swing it. We'll see what the iPhone 5 is like though.. |

We have both the Galaxy S and Iphone 4 at home. I have the S. Apple kicks the Galaxy's touchscreen handily. Also far more stable, and I hate having to constantly watch ram and close apps manually on the S. The S is buggy, and I will be interested in seeing the new Android upgrade. Sometimes the way they implemented things on the S leaves you wondering what the f***?
Apple's battery charges faster and holds a charge longer. You can change batteries with the S, and it comes with a seperate charging box for the spare. New batteries cost under 35,000 for the S. Some apps, like facebook, suck on android. Skype, too. Buggy as hell.
The iphone's cam rocks. The S's is meh and its about more than megapixels. When we need to capture video of our daughter, we grab the iphone.
The main things that keep Apple's competitors close is Apple's self-imposed stupidity. Not allowing Flash is one. Stricter file playback formats is another. The galaxy plays more files, but it doesn't always play them well. I got the S because I wanted Flash. Cant live without it. Apple lost a customer there.
The S had some other advantages, like built-in Gps. I hear the Iphone is getting that, or has it (havent updated recently). Also same with USB tethering and wifi AP mode. My brother-in-law jailbroke his Iphone and has the AP mode, and Flash. |

The iPhone does USB and Bluetooth tethering. I use it all the time. Maybe you are not doing it right. It did change from "tethering" to "personal hotspot" recently, but it is the same thing.
Try using the VLC app on the iPhone. It lets you watch Divx movies drag and drop, just like Android. Super easy to use.
Flash is a resource hog and it looks like it will be dead in a few years. Even Adobe seems to have given up on it by releasing a program for developers to convert flash to HTML5. Both Apple and Microsoft have jumped on board the HTML5 bandwagon, so I don't see how it is going to survive. |

VLC app was removed from the Appstore a couple months back.
As for video playback, AirVideo lets me play any video on my PC on my Iphone via streaming. I don't even have to copy the video to my device. Beat that Android. |

The Iphone4 is my wife's phone. I don't get to play with it as much as I do my Galaxy S, so I am not up on what the latest Apple updates are.
As for Flash, I don't see it eating my battery much (if any) more than regular surfing does. Steve Jobs used the resource excuse to cover for Apple fearing they'd lose money to free Flash games and such. It was, and is, all about money, and little about resource and battery usage.
I don't see Flash going away anytime soon. Until then, or until Jobs dies (could be soon) and Apple goes another route, the Iphone will always play 2nd fiddle in the area of web surfing. |
