is it really as bleak as it seems? is it to the point where people are taking anything they can get?

i'm curious to hear from people who've recently taken jobs.

what are the predictions for say late fall or winter time of this year?

also, has anyone ever heard of any schools in Siheung-dong in Seoul?

okay, think i covered all my bases there.

I don't know about the specific location, but I'm job hunting (and being fairly picky) and I've not seen a great dearth of jobs. A few less than this time last year? Maybe... but that's also a time-of-year thing since I'm looking for jobs starting at an odd time, rather than Aug/Sept or Feb/March.

I think if you have good credentials, the right look (I hate to add that, but it is Korea), and you're fine with working with kids, there are still tons of jobs. Of course, I like teaching kindy/preschool with a bit of elementary much better than older kids so I tend to look at jobs that seem to be unpopular here. It seems as though the cutbacks are more in the cushy R&D jobs or teaching adults.

That said, hagwons are CLOSING and I've had several friends go through that. Makes me look more at the chains where I've seen my friends be re-placed at new locations without much interruption. If a Mom and Pop (like my current place) closes, there's less security.
