Gays look at the same gender as men and women look at each other. I don't know about anyone else but if I shared a room and of course showers with a bunch of other chicks everyday (yes, I am a man) there is no way I would be able to concentrate on performing my duties as a soldier. Get real..nor would you.

Oh, I'm sure there are plenty of us heterosexual folks who don't have any problems with working with or living in barracks with gays. It comes to mind that the guy in the next foxhole over would be a bit more concerned under fire than my "hotness factor." I'm also quite certain that military members aren't in the showers 24 by 7.

I'd rather deal with gays in the military than with the extremist fundamentalists.

Every single country in the world that has military...has gays serving. Period.
The U.S. has had gays serving since way back when!
Gays can kill the enemy just as well as non gays!
Some folks are homophobic and think they are better than others...

It is not a question of being homophobic...I do not have an "irrational fear or hatred" towards queers so that is simply a starwman. Yeah there are gays in the military of every country. Big deal. That doesn't necessitate it should be condoned. You are confusing is/ought. Just because something is happening doesn't mean it ought to happen.
------
The fact that they are in the showers at all would not be conducive to a performing a soldiers duty properly.
-------
Neither of you two have dealt with the scenario I have given (surprise surpirse). If you are a guy and saw a women's breasts and other body parts exposed virtually everyday there is no way you could concentrate on performing your duties as a soldier properly.

It is a different situation. Gay boys shower with straight boys throughout their lives at school, at the gym, at the swimming pool. They go to the sauna together, the steam room etc. In other words, gay men are very used to seeing naked men in their everyday life. I doubt seeing naked men in the army would distract them from their job.

How do you know they have done so "throughout their lives"? That is an assumption.

Are you telling me that gay boys/men in your school, gym, sauna, steam room, swimming pool changing rooms etc have/had different facilities?

Throughout their lives means their entire lives.......there are many queers who say they realized they were gay later on. That is why I wrote it is an assumption by you to say that "gay boys shower with straight boys throughout their lives". Some may but certainly not all.
Furthermore in the military a vast majority of the queers will be sleeping together (same room) and showering together with their preferred gender much more often and with a larger number of them than at any other time in their lives.
If I had to shower with 10, 20, 30 etc naked chicks EVERYDAY.....there is no way I would be able to function properly as a soldier.

I served in Canada. I didn't shower with mass number of people except during basic training and battle school. Most time just a few.

I served with women too, and some guys I figured might be gay. I didn't have a problem. Most of the women were pigs and the gay guys were...well...strange, but I wasn't that worried.

Using the term 'queer' shows your bias right off the bat. You are using this as an excuse to insult gay people.

the fact that you constantly are using the term "queers" here shows me you have some serious problems with accepting gays as equals and that you are seriously homophobic

your insiuations that gays are nothing but sex fiends also causes me trouble and that that would hamper readiness is bunch of bs.

you sound like that general who testified in front of a congressional committee that it was because the dutch allow gays to openly serves was the reason behind the srebeninca massacre

Not if they went to boarding school...lol. I think I would get used to showering with 30 women very quickly if I had been doing it before when I was a child and an adolescent.

Women are just other people after all.

I think there is a bit of projection here..not that he is gay but he classifies women as sex objects first. He therefore thinks that is how gay men think of other gay men.

This guy has brought up his objections to homosexuality before and in much harsher terms so he is obviously homophobic. You're never going to change his mind about homosexuality but perhaps you'll change the mind of others reading this thread so keep at it. I don't have anything to add that hasn't already been said.
