|
|
I live in Gwangju and just went into an eye store with a friend two days ago for contacts. None of us could speak the same language, so I left with an eye exam, a pair of contacts in my eyes, and I'm out 20,000 won. I'm not sure why. Are they going to order me a box of contacts and call me when they are in like in the U.S.? That's a lot of money for a single pair of contacts.
Any experience in this area? |

That's really odd. They shouldn't have to order them.
Are you sure they're disposable lenses? |

Usually I bring in the box of my old ones to show them. The only thing is I've never been able to find the correct BC size; apparently Asian eyes are flatter than mine and every single one of them is a uniform 8.7.
They generally have them in stock, though, usually on a round rack that spins. If you have your prescription you can just walk over and get them if they don't understand your meaning. Or just keep saying "Acuvue Oasys" or whatever. |

If you know your prescription you can just stroll up and ask. Most will speak functional English if you don't feel confident with Korean numbers. "Chom" for the dot is usually understood. And you probably want the "ee-ju", two week lenses. If you have a common prescription you should be paying about 30,000 for 6 lenses |

I would mainly like to know what to do now. Should I go back and try to tell them I want a box of contacts? Perhaps these were just a trial pair, and I'm supposed to go back to tell them they are fine?
No idea! |
