Hello and thanks in advance.
Windows XP crashed on me and some one installed windows 7. I had never had problems with xp, but now I have windows 7. I can not burn a cd or a dvd. I just want to burn music. Taking my computer with me to work is not a good idea. Yes, I can upload to my mp3, but the students like music.
Help please. |

If you have an internet connection in your room, look up Dropbox or Zumodrive. They're free online storage spaces. Failing that, put the MP3s on a USB stick.
Or go to Download.com and try one of the many CD-burning apps. |

Can you play a dvd or cd?
In other words, does your drive show up in My Computer?
If not, you may be missing a driver.
If it was a full genuine Windows 7 that should not be a problem. But if it is bootleg, anything is possible.
Try a freeware burning program.
Then do a full virus and malware scan.
If you have a genuine copy of XP and the serial number, you might want to go back to XP. But if it is not the original copy of XP you probably will need some drivers from the manufacturer's website. |

Now I am at work, thank you guys for responding.
No, this is not a legal program. Problem is my windows xp disk is home. I forgot to bring it.
I put in a disk, and tried to burn from itunes. Yes, drag and drop went fine, but I hit "burn", and nothing.
Yes, I can play a cd and dvd.
I tried to instal "Nero", but could not.
Windows 7 does not work well for me. My laprop is 3 years old. A message keeps poping up saying I am running out of memory.
I have 2 drives. One shows that it is 50% full and hte other is empty.
And I do have a usb stick...some place.
I am thinking about buying a portable external hard drive. They are priced pretty low. (70,000...good brand name. One of my Korean friends knows a good site)
Tonight I am busy, but tomorrow night I will try and download a driver. |

Well, it certainly sounds like you did your homework before installing 7.
Tip: it needs more resources than XP. I know...M$ sucks, 7 sucks, etc. I also get annoyed when progress requires me to also progress.
For now, try killing services to save memory or buy a RAM stick to put in your aging machine.
An external drive? Why? Running out of memory has nothing to do with hard drive space, though you are probably low on that as well. |

Thanks, but I do not understand.
I thought memory and disk drive space was the same thing. |

If you want to have any chance of keeping an aging computer going and installing new Operating Systems, then you'll need to do a bit of research on your own, using Google and Wikipedia for example, on the basic terminology of computers and the basic ways to maintain them. |

Op...have XP installed again and return to your previous life. Sorry to say, but you aren't ready for what you appear to be getting into. No slight; it is muddy water to be sure, but as eamo said, take a few months to get some knowledge before swimming. |

You know you can use the Windows serial number on the back of your laptop to reinstall a matching level of Windows XP, right? |
