Is the Criminal Background Check a requirement for the E-2 Visa or for the school? If I don't need a E-2 Visa, do I still need a Criminal Background Check as a US citizen?
I ask because getting a Criminal Background Check would be a huge hassle for me since I live outside the US, not to mention I can get a working visa/permit on my own (not the E-2 visa). |

It is an E2 visa requirement.
If you are not on an E2 then it MAY be an employer requirement (like for a public or international school).
