Just a fairly modest 94% from Rotten Tomatoes.

Not bad for a biopic, huh?

That Sean Penn guy keeps doing quality work it seems.

Anyone seen it locally? Gone with a Korean?
I'd love to know the local take on it.

Yea, I enjoyed it. Hardly any Koreans go to English films that aren't Avatar or Michael Bay's latest Bang, Bang, Explosion Part Deux, anyway. The ones that do go, will know what they are going into. There are only a few icky homo moments anyway. I don't think Koreans are that sheltered.

Looks like it actually finished here in Gwangju already. It was due to head to Seoul and Daejon next. The nice owner guy at Gwangju Theater reckoned it should be playing in Daejon now, at the 'Art Theater'.. if that means anything to you guys up there?
... Might see yous up there soon, aye?

I watched it in San Francisco when it first came out. As you might imagine, the crowd was pretty enthusiastic. Personally, I didn't care for it. Sean Penn overacted, I thought, and none of the characters--aside from a less-than-nuanced Harvey Milk--came to life.

My coach knew Milk (and actually warmed up crowds for him when he was first starting) who said Penn was spot on - apparently he was very 'excitable' and had a habit for pushing people's buttons. He pushed people too far, which is probably why he passed away in the fashion that he did.

I'd really like to see this. Does anyone know where it IS playing these days? If you hear of it showing locally please post the details here and let me know.

Isn't that movie like 2 years old.

I thought Penn was brilliant in the I Shot Nixon movie or whatever is was called.

Some movies come out here before they are released in western countries, presumably as they do a trial of the market response here or something. Others come out here later and often on more limited release, I'd guess if they presume there is likely to be only limited response, as most likely with something like Milk.
