Hi everyone. I basically have a day to decide between two schools. The first is YBM in Gangdong. The second is SunKyung English Institute in Gwangju (the one in the south).

Anyone with an opinion or some info, please come forward! It will be much appreciated. The money with YBM is poor in comparison and I have read some dodgy testimonies. I have heard little about the other one, but the two testimonies have been good. I'm not so fussed on location, as long as there is something to do and places to go.

Cheers in advance.

I would either take the Gwangju job or look elsewhere.

If you are ok with countryside living, Gwangju is ok. You won't be near Seoul though. Keep that in mind.

Thanks for that. Is that just because of YBM? I have read some poor feedback from it. Also, I didn't realise Gwangju was countryside! I guess comparably with Seoul and other larger cities. Isn't it the sixth city or something?

You can google the location in maps, and then in the upper right is a "more" option. Check "photos".

Here is one and what I saw when I visited with my ex-girlfriend (she grew up there) http://www.panoramio.com/photo/11606898

It's not a bad area, but you will be at least 2.5 hours from anywhere decent in my opinion. Personal choice, so read up and see if it is really what you want.

As for YBM, I haven't seen anything good mentioned of them but I have seen it mentioned a lot.

Personally, I would hate to walk into a school that looked like this http://upsisa.ybmsisa.com/si/ybmecc_co_kr/www%5Csub%5Cpic%5C1218_P1070857_resize.JPG

I got this from their site http://www.ybmecc.co.kr/index.asp?sub1=school_pic&sub2=2&seq=82

Huge schools like this treat you like crap. You can always be replaced if you don't fit in. I prefer smaller schools where I have direct communication with the owner. They are less likely to bully and give a hard time. If you don't mind going through the hoops of getting another CBC and finding another school when things go bad, then give it a try. Hug the cardboard image of the Korean lady for me while you are there Laughing
