Hi guys I am teaching for EPIK Gangwon-do. I hope to move to Seoul next year for EPIK. Do you know if I have to apply directly to EPIK or can I go through a recruiter? I was told by one recruiter to apply directly since I am already an EPIK teacher. Another said it would accept my application. Both are reputable recruiters. Thanks

Does EPIK/Niied even hire for Seoul?

Try SMOE or with some PS experience maybe the Gangnam district office of education.

The alternative is a school (GEPIK) in a close in satellite city like Seongnam (the new PS schools in Bundang are only 30 minutes by bus from Itaewon).

Try to get a direct hire through a recruiter to a school in your choice of area.
Another alternative is to head in on a weekend and pass out bilingual (Korean/English) resumes and cover letters to the schools in the area you want to work in. Takes a little effort on your part but a direct hire is always better than the "roll-the-dice" get assigned to a school that you get with the main programs.

I am part of the EPIK-hired people who got placed in Seoul for August 2009, but I don't think EPIK is doing Seoul again. They did Gyeonggi for March though, although I doubt they'll try that again.

From what I've heard from major recruiters and someone at the SMOE office, EPIK is indeed doing the hiring for SMOE this semester, and maybe for good. Strange, I know. I guess that's why you don't see any adverts for SMOE at the minute...just EPIK/GEPIK for August 2010.
