You should be exempted from paying UI if you have E2 visa.

You seriously don't expect the principal to pay out of his own pocket for his soju dinners now do you? Laughing

I've not experienced this. Might be a new regulation but I'd start asking about it and find out if this applies to foreigners as well.

E2's don't pay because you can't collect.
Have your boss or admin person check with the labor board.

foreigners are exempt because:

no job = no visa
no visa = no stay in Korea
no stay in Korea = no collect benefits
no collect benefits = exempt from paying.

Thanks for the help. Now to explain to my school that doesn't speak English that E-2s don't count.

Look for the English link and talk to them. they can help you with it (assuming the nit on the phone isn't too lazy to get off his azz and actually do his job).

YOUR paycheque, mate. The rest of us are smart enough not to pay into something we can't ever cash if we're on E2s.

Careful, there are those in the UK that do not get their pension payments returned to them.

I apologize but this is a fairly rude and altogether uneducated question. I find it AMAZING that your school must allow you to handle your own pay check each month instead of having the office do it. They took the money out without asking, and when I saw it, I informed them that it should not happen, which they promptly denied. My Public school's fault, not mine. It will be taken care of.

Thanks to everyone who contributed positively to the thread.
