Recently, my tooth unfortunately split and I had to find a decent dentist in Seoul. After going to a few and searching around online, I finally found a decent dentist through a Korean contact. The experience was pretty pleasant so I thought of sharing it with you guys in case anyone needs a dentist.
Name: Yonsei Gain Dental Clinic (연세가인치과)
Website: www.ysgaindent.co.kr
Tel: 02-707-2275
Operating hours: 10am - 7pm (normal days). 10am - 4pm (saturdays).
Add: Seoul, Mapo-Gu, Gongdeok-dong, 423-3, Lotte Castle, 3rd floor, Medical Centre
How to get there by subway: Lotte Castle is right on top of exit 3 of 공덕역 (Gongdeok Station). Just go to third floor and look for the clinic. It's pretty easy to find.
The manager can speak decent English and is patient and friendly. She even patted my hands during the injection when she noticed that I was nervous. The dentist speaks very little English but he's nice and friendly. The manager assisted him with translation when needed.
The clinic was clean and hygenic. As the building is new so the clinic is pretty clean and new too. The injection was fast and hurt less than expected. The extraction process was relatively painless even though he had to take my tooth out in pieces. They provided me with ice pack as well which my dentist back home didn't.
Prices are pretty reasonable. It's about $20,000won for X-ray and $50,000won for extraction.
If you guys go there, you can say that you found this clinic through an online recommendation by 진영교 (pronounced as Jin-Yeong-Gyo).
Good luck! |

I had a good dental experience at hus-hu (I think it's supposed to be a play on words or something).
I just had a cleaning, but lots of English. I went to the one in Apgujeong. It was a decent price and pretty fancy.

I had a great experience at Tufts Dental
Dr. Sohn got her degree from Tufts University, her staff speaks English, and they are all very friendly and helpful.
I highly recommend them.

I think it really depends on your personal condition so it's better to have the dentist examine it first...I went there again today to change my dressing and it was still a pleasant experience...the manager was very patient in explaining my questions |

I go to Seorae Dental Clinic at the entrance to Seorae Maeul in Bangbae-dong across from Starbucks. The dentist's name is Florentina. She is really nice and does a great job. She speaks English and Portuguese so that's where all the Brazilian people go to get there dental stuff done. I just had a filling done this week. |

I recommend Tufts too. Speak English, clean, and reasonably priced. |

I was going to take this recommendation seriously but I figured that I should probably do a little research beforehand. After reading various posts I started become confused. There are a lot of absurdly glowing reviews for this particular dentist. Doesn't this seem to be highly suspect? I rarely encounter individuals so willing to suggest that their dental needs have been so wonderfully fulfilled. Most of us dread our experiences. So I wonder, are these reviews simply paid for advertisements? I have also discovered a few unsatisfied customers who have suggested that foreigners seem to be subjected to unnecessary up selling. I'm concerned that some dentists, like the one being discussed here, may see foreigners as a convenient financial opportunity. If a review sounds too good to be true, than it most likely is. These are businesses after all that we are discussing. Like a hagwon, these sorts of businesses are usually more interested in generating a profit than anything else. |

I was pretty satisfied with Hu's hu (clean and modern facility, accommodating staff and dentist) but the bill was significantly more expensive than the initial quote. Patient beware. |

I got one of my wisdom teeth taken out last week. It was agony. The dentist didn't speak much English but tried her best. I don't speak much Korean but I tried my best. I kept bleeding for ages after the extraction. A male assistant held guaze in my mouth to stop the bleeding for ages. He touched my lip a couple of times in a weird way. I felt uncomfortable.
After the surgery my face swelled up and I was in a lot of pain. Even today, a week later, I still have pain and yellow bruises on my face and neck. I got my stitches out today.
It cost me 20,000won for everything. They were all very nice to me. PM me if you want her details. |

I really need some fillings, but I'm absolutely bricking it at the thought of exposing myself to one of these quacks. Is there a clinic that has the best reputation in Seoul? I'm willing to pay bigger bucks for decent standards (i.e. a lack of blinding agony.) |

I will try not to sound like an advertisement but I just had the best dentist experience at Hus-Hu and I'm on a high.
I had badly swollen gums. I bled every time I brushed, it really sucked. I went to Tuffs and she wanted to charge me over 400,000 won for surgery plus cleaning, etc. I wasn't too concerned about the money because I think teeth are really important but I was rather scared about getting part of my swollen gums cut, especially if it was unnecessary.
I read this exact thread several months ago and made an appointment with Hus-Hu to get a second opinion. The dentist laughed when I mentioned "another dentist" recommended surgery. He said he could reduce the swelling with a deep cleaning (he spoke with some dentist jargon but I came to an understanding that it was some fancy below the gum treatment). With insurance it cost me under 20,000 won plus I got a scaling (not covered) for 50,000 or 60,000. When I brush I never bleed, I'm like indebted to this guy!
So anyways it's been about 5 months since then and I've acquired some stains on my front teeth that I was worried about. I made an appointment and asked if he could remove them easily. He removed them today free of charge. I couldn't believe it. I was going to get a cleaning today too but he said I didn't really need one for a few more months. I left Hus-Hu feeling like a robbed the place.
I'm literally considering sending Dr. Kwon a Christmas card. |

I go to Seoul Herb Dental Clinic near Jamsil (02 425-2875) and he's better than the dentist I had back in the states. I'm a big baby about pain/numbing and I don't even feel his novocaine shot.
He's also reasonably priced and they speak English. I found a recommendation for him on Dave's - went to him after another dentist wanted to charge me 300,000W more for a crown. |

After I was charged 300,000 won more than I was quoted for dental work (on top of what was covered by health insurance), I left Hus Hu feeling like I was robbed. Won't be going back. |

I like Dr. Yu's clinic - http://www.wydent.com/
Dr. Yu was educated in the US and has like a million degrees.
The clinic is in Gangnam and it's a little pricey, but the quality is unmatched, the staff speaks great English, and Dr. Yu personally checks up with me to see how things are going.
I cant say that for dentists from my home country (including the English speaking). |
