The problem isn't internet gaming. It is with Korean society which the government would not acknowledge or try to change.

Too much competition and expectations from parents leading to kids wanting to escape from it all. I can't really blame them as they are rebelling. Yes, South Korea has advanced rapidly but why do other countries work half has hard and achieve the same results with education? Until something is done about these root problems, a band-aid such as a "ban" on internet gaming isn't going to do squat.

They tried the same thing with prostitution and where did that get them? Nowhere. The government just refuses to acknowledge that prostitution plays a huge role and is very important in Korean society. The sooner they come to grips with this and take the paper bag off of their head then gradual changes to Korean society can be made for the better.

The ban is only after midnight, but that sucks because that is the only time the kids can finally get there after getting out from school.

So what'll happen? After midnight they all get kicked out on the street to turn the games into role play? That should burn off their pent up excess energy.

Why ban Starcraft instead of the game where people virtually raise a baby while the real one at home dies?

Because then you'd have foreigners complaining on Dave's that the Korean government was overreacting to something that happened once.

If they do ban it then this place is going to lose its charm. I like Korea's general lack of laws and nanny statism (such as affects me).

The kids here are fine. Same with everywhere else. Some are punks, some are slackers, some are overparented, some are just normal, some are really special and bright.

Savior, AKA Ma Jae Yoon.

He threw the matches. Starcraft is going to slowly go down hill after this.
