Hi there,
Im sure there is already a post about this, but has anybody got a position through Adventure Teaching recruiting?
If yes, could you tell me how they were in finding you the position? What is your school and accomodation like?I am thinking of going to South Korea and want a position somewhere in or around seoul.
Any information would be great because I am a bit weary about using recruiters as I have heard so many horror stories about others....

Also, I am wondering how much people have paid for university transcripts? My uni is charging around 60 for 2 copies, does this sound right? One of my friends who went to Korea got theirs for much less, am I asking for the wrong set or did my friend just get a bargain?

Any information or advice would be great...

Thanks

Hey, I'm in a similar boat as you are and I am also looking to go to Korea this autumn, though I'm in the process of getting my docs together in preperation for applying to EPIK soon, through probably Korvia or ESL Planet

60 for transcripts is very expensive. It cost me 13 for 4 from Glasgow University (10 for the first, and 1 for each extra copy)

What university is it that you go/went to? See if you can get into contact with someone at registry and kindly point out how absurd their price for transcripts is, Mention that you are a poor former student who has struggled to find a job and that this is your best opportunity and you really dont want to miss out on it because you cant afford such high prices.

Seriously, I can get a new degree parchment for cheaper than that.

I went to RGU in Aberdeen, when I emailed the course secretary about transcripts she says reprints are 10 for each year, so for the whole 4 year course is 40 but will give it to me for 30, photocopies are free.
I have asked for transcripts before and they only cost me 10 and its RGU haha.
What have I asked for? Confused

I dont know how it works at other Universities in Scotland, but at Glasgow if you want transcripts you have to go to the registry department rather than course secretaries for them

The "transcript" she mentions sounds odd too. If its split into seperate years than it sounds a little too detailed for a transcript, which should basically just be a list of the courses you did and your grades, no more than two pages long usually. To split that over 4 seperate documents sounds odd.

The other post about this was by me I think!

I got told 30 each for transcripts from the University administration office (they called them the 'diploma supplement' though). From further research it seems you need to contact the administrator of your course rather than the central office for the transcripts, which should list each year of study you did and they are a lot cheaper. Mine were free.

Thanks, I contacted the course secretary and explained to her that it seems quite expensive considering the last set only cost me 10 and that I dont need a detailed transcripts of everything I have done.
So what I need is just papers to show what years I studied and the grades I got?

I originally came to Korea through Adventure Teaching. Couldn't be happier with them and everything they provided.

thats good, what is the school like that you were placed? and where did you teach? Was the accomodation nice? (my friend had a bad experience with their recruiter and the accomodation so they told me to ask and make sure.)
Because I am considering applying their agency to teach in Korea.

i'm in the process of getting everything together and my dox from the uni of sheffield were;
20 for the first transcript, 1 for every copy after
30 for a replacement degree cert. [definitely didn't want mine to go missing]

i'm just starting to look at recruiters too, although i've heard many mixed things about most. i don't know of any in england - have you OP got any more info on any up your sleeve?

I finally got it sorted, turns out she was charging me too much you think!?!

I'm currently in contact with adventure teaching and they seem to be really nice and helpful, so I think I am going to go through them.
There is one in England called Flying Cows but I have heard mixed reviews on them, and one of my friends did not have anything good to say about them.
