I have all necessary papers ready to go except for the apostile for the Florida criminal check...which I expect to get later this week.
I haven't applied anywhere yet, a couple of false starts have given me pause, I prefer to be ready to go as soon as I have a viable offer. |

| Yes, May is very realistic. It will take you about a week to get your Korean visa. |

Any time is realistic for a hakwon.
You missed the boat for the nice PS positions. All that will be left by there are the hard-to-fill places.
June-July is great for PS applications again. Use the time in between to pick up a TESOL/TEFL certification (even an on-line one works for a Korean Public school and they are not that expensive) and it will bump you up the list and give you a grade/pay raise when you apply.
Just my humble opinion.

I'm 40, so it's not like I was expecting a public school slot anyway
Can't spare the cash right now, but next year the interval between May and July would give me the perfect timing and excuse to cruise across Eurasia to pick up the CELTA certificate in the UK.
Shamelessly extravagant and unnecessary, I know...but sounds awfully fun.
Thanks for the info. |

| Of the 40+ crew that I know, almost all of them work in public schools (or universities)... Id recommend it over a hagwon. |

I second that!
1/2 the class load, real prep time, assured pay + benefts that won't happen at a hakwon (like medical, pension and 4-6 WEEKS of paid holiday). |
