| In Seoul, 60,000 won a month on the high end. You can find cheaper. |

| Mine was 162k for 3 months (inc 10% discount). It's a decent place so, yeah, that's probably high-end. |

| In Seoul I've paid as high as 80,000 a month (granted that was just on a per month basis), 50,000 in Daegu and the same in Incheon. |

er....what?
162k divided by 3 months is approx 50k per month for unlimited usage in those 3 months. If you think that's expensive then you must come from the cheapest area in the English-speaking world. |

Join any gym except California Fitness. They're overpriced (over 100,000won a month) and the place is overunned by people who just want to be seen in their latest workout gear. Stay away!!! |

you can talk calif down. I got 2 years for 1.3 which breaks down to 55k/month, I was paying the same in myold neighborhood (55k/month) for a tiny gym with no facilities that was a dump. Another example, there is a gym very close to where I live now in Hongdae, new and somewhat OK, they charge 80/month or 200 for 3 and they are closed Sundays and holidays.
Calif's facilities are the best in Korea outside of the 5 star hotels and they get the best scenery. Plus they are open 7 days/week like 6AM-10P
There is another option in Myeong-dong, Hurest they apparently have everything Calif has plus a jimjil bang, today I was a sign saying 1 year 770k which is 64k/month again comparable to the neighborhood gyms but nicer facilties |

| Membership fees also depend on where you live in the city. I live in Gangnam and have gone to 3 gyms and all three were 100,000 a month. On the other side of the city it only cost me 50,000 a month, though the place was damn small. |

True 'dat. Outside of hotel gyms (e.g. The Park Club in the Hyatt), California Wow is the best in Korea that I've seen. My membership was 750,000 for a year, and I also negotiated away the "Inititation Fee".
And yeah, the scenery is the best- sometimes it's so good it's difficult to focus on your workout. |

Some gyms will let you buy 10 passes at a time (mine sells me 10 passes for 35,000). This lets me keep my routine nice and mixed since I intersperse it with weekly group sports and mountain hikes.
Gotta mix it up
When I was in Ilsan before, I paid 100,000 for 3 months. It was a fantastic deal. So don't give up hope, you could still find a gem. |
