Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice for those familiar with EPIK. I've sent in my application and am waiting for the phone interview. I'm in an M.A./Ph.D. (concurrent) program in Linguistics and am just finishing up my 2nd year of it and will be getting my TESOL certificate in May. I'm 25, and I need to pay down some of my student loans and my uni's funding got cut so enrolling next semester is not an option for me (no assistantships). Obviously I love ESL/EFL, but three years ago I taught in Japan through one of the Big 4 conversation schools, but had to leave shortly into the contract because I was sick (sinus disease) and I couldn't see a doctor in Japan because my idiot manager always said he was too busy to go to the city office and vouch for me to get my Alien Reg. Card. I really want to teach English abroad, especially in Asia, and I've been teaching ESL privately part-time for the last year. My question is, based on my circumstances, do I have a good shot of getting in with EPIK or GEPIK? Also, I'm applying with my husband, who also has ESL tutoring experience and lived in China for a year. I'd appreciate any input or tips. I'm going with Reach to Teach, btw.

The education programs in Korea do not check with those in Japan.

Just don't mention it and you should be fine.
