To make a long story short, I'm in India with out a visa (crossed the border without filing any paperwork). I fly back to NYC on the 1st of April (Thursday). I'm curious what the officials in Delhi's international airport are going to do when I try and board my flight with out having a proper entry visa.
I will be calling the U.S. consular for advice on Monday AM. I am wondering if anyone else had a similar situation and can advise on what the best protocol is in order to minimize the headaches and fines that I'm sure to face when it comes time to fly. Any help/ advice would be much appreciated!
Thank you so much in advance, hope to hear from some people soon!

If it's similar to the United States, you should have no problem leaving. But likewise, if it's similar to the United States, you'll have major problems re-entering. |

2 options:
1)
-call your consulate on Monday and explain what happened and let them know where you are. (they should have a 24/7 emergency number that you can access as well - this would be better)
-Go to the local immigration office ASAP and get it dealt with.
You MAY, with a little deference and humility and by being apologetic get away with a warning, some extra fees and a promise not to let it happen again. They don't like to punish tourists.
(best choice)
2) go to the airport VERY early and try to get it cleared up and hope you don't miss your flight. (not so good)
Hope that you don't get checked before you do 1 or 2. Being picked up as an illegal WILL result in your arrest, detention, fines and bigger problems than you care to worry about. The consulate WON'T be able to help you if this happens.
