Afternoon Elementary Mon/Wed/Fri Part Time Teacher wanted in an English Academy

Posted By: JES ISLAND Seoul Forest <[email protected]>
Date: Thursday, 1 April 2010, at 8:38 a.m.

We are an English Hagwon located near Oksu station ( subway line #3 and #1)
We are looking for a fun energetic english teacher who can come in for the afternoon to teach our elementary classes.

Teachers must have a B.A/B.S degree and have experience in teaching Elementary school students.

Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 3:00~ 6:15 ( teaching four 45 minute classes)

Class: maximum 8 students/class

Student age: 7 ~ 13 yrs old

Pay: \600,000 / month

How about this place that's looking for someone for what amounts to be 15,000 won/hour. I thought the salary must be missing a '1' in front, but the principal said there is no mistake.

Who can be 'fun and energetic' for that wage?

That's especially crazy when you'd need an F visa to work the second job and most of the F visa jobs pay even higher than average.

I understand this is about what tropical Vietnam pays by the hour. 12 to 15 an hour with 8 to 10 being the bottom.

That is 15000 an actual hour too, not 15000 a class. Thats like 12000 and change for one class.

No, you wouldn't. An E-2 can work it as long as the E2 holder gets a letter from the primary employer consenting to it, goes to immigration, etc. etc.

Here's another for 25,000 an hour. I've seen a lot of these in this price range.

Must be students that are taking these.

Quote:
Teach English to elementary age students in a community center one afternoon per week - Fridays. Currently there are three 50-minute classes beginning at 2, 3, and 4 pm. Books and tapes provided. Native North American English speaker only. Send resume to Liz.

Location: Siheung2dong, Seoul
Compensation: 25,000 KRW per hour
This is a part-time job.

Don't imagine there's too many students that fill the bill...at least for this one.

Some people are taking crappy jobs like that.

I get paid more per hour for extra classes during my normal work day at a public school. I'd have to be crazy to take anything like the examples above!

I got a ph call from a friend. his Hogwan Director wanted to pay an English teacher 20 000 won to teach adults in the evenings for an hour...

Apart from the illegal aspect, its also insulting, two weeks later the director is still looking... Laughing

When my friend told her I wasn't interested, she just replied she didn't think a public school teacher would want the job, which sounded like a strange thing to say when she was the person offering.... Rolling Eyes

Sounds like an offer for the Southeast Asian housewives that they've been bringing over. That would explain the F-class-visa-requiring job.
