I am going to be working at a Korean law firm as an intern this summer. I know Koreans are all about bringing gifts as a sign of keeping good relations, and so what would be an appropriate gift to give to your boss? I was thinking of dried mangos from Costco, but are mangoes cheap and easy to buy in Korea? I was thinking they might like beef jerky, since beef in Korea is so expensive, but then I realized that they may not like that due to the whole US beef debacle (plus I dont even know if that would be allowed through customs). Any other suggestions?

English whiskey for men, honey for the ladies. It's good to share things like fresh fruit, boiled Korean sweet potatoes, and rice cakes from time to time.

If you're from the states bring a few baseball hats with your home team's logo on them.

Beef jerky is in every corner store over here... body products went down well with the women (hand lotion, body wash set etc). And I found a nice set including a key ring, business card holder and pen for my boss. Threw in a local bottle of wine too, even if they dont drink they like having something no one else can get. I add 'stocking fillers' as well, small box of teabags, candy, cookies... even if they dont like the taste, they enjoy trying snacks from abroad.

Over the years I've brought calendars, coffee table photo books, key rings, swiss army knives, mag lights, and change purses. I don't bring anything now, as the gift giving seems to be only one way - and I've noticed that many Koreans re-cycle gifts.

I was going to bring booze one time - but thankfully I didn't. My new principal was a nun.
