I've been to Jeju and Gyeongju before ...so outside of those destinations, where do you think would be the ideal spot for a templestay? does anyone have any experiences/info to share? thank you in advance!

yikes! you seriously want to do this? i'd be careful. i tried it, but hated it. that's all i'm saying. whatever you do, make sure there's an option to leave if you don't like it. when i signed up, i had to fight my way out (physically) to get out of there. it was like a jail! i thought i would get some cultural experience, but all it was was eating boring food, sitting around, and getting up too darn early!

I too was gonna leave but I made myself stay and I have to say I enjoyed it (in hindsight)gettting up at the crack of dawn, praying, chanting and climbing a mountain all before 8 O' Clock was an experience.I am glad I did it though. I did it in Beomosa in Busan.
I'd say there wouldn't be much difference in the stays. Smile

I believe this place gets 30% of all templestay traffic. It is very beautiful.

has a temple stay trip on April 10-11/10. It's okay and not as strict. You can choose to do some of rituals, like praying and chanting at dawn, or sleeping in (but the noise will wake you up anyways). The tea ceremony with the master is pretty neat. His devotees might even practice homeopathic healing (like accupuncture) on participants as well.
