I'm aware that US phones do not work in Korea because they have individually assigned numbers or something.. but what about the reverse? Could a jailbroken Korean iphone work back in the US? |

I have a simliar question. so you are saying that if I buy my iphone here in the US that I will not be able to get a korean service on it? I'm under the impression that all iphones are made the same no matter where they are sold. |

Nope, just ask the Chinese how they like their wifi.
If you buy a factory unlocked phone you can use it in Korea after you get it certified for 400,000(or so) won. It cannot be jail broken and then certified.
If you buy it in Korea you can jail break it for use in other countries with no problems (except Japan me thinks). |

I believe the amount is 300,000 (just had this conversation with my cousin yesterday who works for KT Show).
I'm not sure about the Korean iPhone working in the US-- I remember one of the major issues with the iPhone was that it failed to meet Korean mobile specification (fixed now, I believe). |
