Ok, so I've been a lurker for awhile now on this forum and have decided I would like to teach in Korea if I am offered a position that I like. The problem is that I won't get the actual degree until June, so should I start emailing recruiters now or wait until I physically have it on hand?
Also, is it true I can only use ONE recruiter when applying for public school jobs or else my application will be ignored?
Any advice would be helpful, thank you.

Wait till you have the paperwork in hand before you apply.

How long will it take to get your CRC/CBC? May might be a good time to apply for it.

No-one can do anything until you have the paperwork in hand.
Degree, CBC, passport, transcripts.

You would just be another e-mail, one of (they hope) thousands that they can try to sell to schools.

When you have it all, proceed with your application.

It WAS true that SMOE would reject if you applied through more than one recruiter. This was NOT true of the other programs (GEPIK & EPIK).

Recruiters ALSO get placements for direct hires from public schools (how I found my job) as well as forwarding placements to GEPIK and EPIK.

I am in a similar situation. I graduate on May 8. I get my degree the day I graduate, but it will be a week or two before I have my final transcripts. However, I already have a recruiter and all of my application documents ready.

As far as the June graduation goes, here is what my recruiter told me. If you get accepted by EPIK, you can send them a letter from your university stating that you will graduate in June and send them your current transcripts. EPIK will accept them as a placeholder, but I have no idea how long they will wait. Once you have your degree and final transcripts, you need to get them to EPIK as soon as possible.

What you should do right now is contact some recruiters and get the process going. EPIK begins accepting applications on April 1st and you have quite a bit to do before you can submit an application. Recruiters will want to interview you before agreeing to represent you. You will need to have two reference letters to submit with you application.

It is best that you get everything rolling right now so you can get a spot.

You just have to have your diploma and final transcrips by the time you get to Korea. You can submit them at orientation.

All you need for EPIK is a letter from your university stating that you have fulfilled the requirements for a degree. With this youll get the job and your contract will be stamped with Not Valid Without Bachelors Degree. This gives you time to get your psychical diploma and have it authenticated. If you went to a big university see if they can overnight it. I found out mine would be sitting in a hallway for another week waiting for all 6,000 to be ready for the post.

Make sure you get all your other documents ready before you graduate... the criminal record check can take ages!! Then once you get your transcripts and degree youre all ready to go.
