I'll be going to the orientation the end of March. Can anyone tell me what that was like? Also, I asked when I would be getting my original degree back, since they needed it for the application, but haven't heard anything. Sharon is a bit slow responding to emails...is anyone on the board going to start their MA course this semester? It would be nice to see who all has taken or is taking the course in case more questions arise.

I am a tutor for the program. The orientation will be a lot of new information thrown at you but many things are in the handbook too so don't worry about it too much. The tutor giving the presentation has been doing it for years. You should get to know some people in the same course and exchange contact details with them. You can also ask Bham (via email or WebCT) or your tutor for help when you need it.

I am sure Sharon is busy because of the large intake of students and also she is in charge of running TOEIC tests in Kyungwon too. It may take her a little time to get back to you since there are around 26 new starters but she will get back to you. When I started there was only 6 starters but for the last couple of years it has grown a lot.

I will be starting in April. I am going to the orientation too.

You do know you could have given her the diploma in person, and she could scan it and give it back to you the same day without doing any mailing, right?

She probably has your diploma in the office (she doesn't need to mail it to the UK). So I am sure it's safe.

Sharon will have it in a hard plastic file folder on her desk.
She is pretty busy and she takes her time with emails for that reason.

I started the programme last Fall, the orientation is fairly well done...

If you are not too far away, just swing by Kyungwon University and pick it up when you have time. As someone said, if you really want/need it, she just needs it to make a copy and verify it is real....

I have a list of module 1 books. Did anyone buy these books here in Seoul, or does anyone have plans to buy/copy at kinkos or something? I will be willing to pay double the kinkos cost if someone can copy for me. If you have any ideas please PM me.

I have one text book available in pdf I can share as well.

Depends on the MA programme...
If applied linguistics Module 1 is Sociolinguistics and Lexis.
I found searching the two main texts on gmarket no problem...you can order them from places like whatthebook and yes25 or kyobo as well.

I wasn't able to make it to the meeting. Did anyone attend? What happened and was there anything important or interesting?
