Any leads out there for the English guides of the new 3rd and 4th Public Elementary Guides?

I know that they repeat the 8 chapters, however, they have added 8 new chapters in both books. Third grade Chapter three is a NEW Chapter.

Thanks

You are right. I know most of us don't like national curriculum, but some of us need these guides, becuase the Korean teachers expect us to follow them rather than just doing whatever we want.

What they did was add 8 chapters to grades 3 and 4 books to make them last 1 school year.

I have the list of new chapters added, but neither me nor my Korean co-teachers can locate the new files. Still nothing to date.

I haven't seen an English guide but I do have the Korean version. Basically Lesson 3 is a review of Lesson 1 and 2 which seems to be a good idea.

My Korean isn't very good but I have managed to figure out what is supposed to be in each lesson from the Korean guide. Sometimes I can't figure out the game so then I just make a new one or make up my own version instead.

If you have a Korean guide, just look at the dialogues and whatever English you see. You can easily make a lesson from just that. The rest is really only suggestions on how to conduct the lesson, and many of us can come up with far better games and practice dialogues.

There is NO English guide and there is never going to be one. This book was scraped together quickly and is being either scrapped or retooled for the next school year.

Perhaps then, but not now.

I for one hope they scrap the entire thing and pay some actual westerners to design the curriculum. The sentences are a joke, the books are about as bad, the games are terrible, and the videos used to be funny and cheesy, now they are just god awful. They re-did all the vidoes and took away what was actually humerous about them in the first place.

That part where Tony is hanging off the fridge on the old Units CD is classic, now you've idiot Tony asking Minsu for help and just waiting calmly. And Minsu has loads of time to stand up and walk over to help Tony yet you get him calmly standing up and saying "Wait I'm coming"

The format and CD layout is much improved but the videos are terrible. Every person delivers every line in a Monotone voice, there is no emotion etc.

But yes as NYC Gal says, look at the Korean, the sentences are enough to get you mapped out. Then you hand your plan to your PT and say "did I miss anything?"

Not Rocket science people.

Oh Gawd, the old videos were so bad they were good. At least the original actors had their own personality. Julie's princess Leia's hairstyle is the worst. Evil or Very Mad

The computer interactive part of it is much better, though.
