As the title says, I'm looking for an e-book reader. Please, no flaming about how e-book readers are worthless. I have my reasons.

I haven't seen many e-book readers in Korea. Does anyone know any stores I can find them in? I would like to be able to hold one in my hand and check out the physical specs before buying one.

Thanks.

I believe you may be able to buy a newish Samsung ebook reader at Kyobo bookstores. Also, there was a poster here who purchased the Nuutbook ebook reader some time ago and was quite pleased with it. Do a search for Nuutbook and you should find the thread.

I've used the Iriver Story.

eBook readers in Korea are around 400,000w. For that much, I think it would be better just to order a Kindle.

I got the iRiver for about 330,000 in December. I was very happy with it up until I somehow did the screen in T>T. They're fixing it for 90,000 though so it's not all bad.
No DRM or other silliness to worry about. Just drop your files on and your good. Haven't figured out the comic book system though.

my ebook reader is an iriver iplayer 4GB

fits in the palm of my hand; holds 500 books plus mp3's plus pictures plus movies plus fm radio plus audio recordings.

paid a hundred bucks for it. read about a hundred books on it so far.

accidentally dropped and broke it twice. both times sent to Seoul and returned a week later repaired for free.

now I have a custom condom on it so it won't break again

I got a nook a month ago and like it.

You'd have to get it shipped from the US, but it'd still be cheaper than W400k.

I think it all depends on what you want from your e-reader. I like the nook because it handles .epub files well. When combined with calibre's free conversion software (not to mention the google library), it makes reading virtually any e-book possible.

It depends what you are looking for. An iPhone or ITouch are adequate ereaders. As are PSPs and many other types of PMPs and cellphones.

Are you thinking about carrying it around with you? If yes, a Kindle or Nook maybe too bulky and fragile. I'm going to get a high end e-ink reader in a year or so (when the market has settled on a price point and spec list) because I do fully 100% of my reading at home. I wouldn't dream of lugging it about town with me, though.

engadget is always posting about new cheap ipad and ebook alternatives. A good number will be coming in at under 199 USD.
Just wait until the market pops out a few and you'll save a fortune.

My gf has a Sony PRS-505... They're not being sold at the Sony store anymore, but if you can pick one up used they're nice...
