I'm doing extra classes for overtime money at a public school. I once read on Dave's that you get paid more than the standard 20,000 won an hour if you have classes after 2:30 PM. Is this true?

you get paid extra if the number of classes you teach goes over 22 classes. (should be 40 min=1 class)

If not, then it counts toward your 22

check your contract

Wink

I get paid an extra 400,000 won a month to teach from 8pm-9pm as overtime on my 2-8pm regular pay.

This, plus if you work outside of your contract hours (after 4:30pm or 5pm) you get additional overtime, usually your "22 hours+" pay plus 50%.

I'm EPIK, but the GEPIK and SMOE contracts are similar. Check your contract; it should specify the details within. If not, check the website of whatever program you are in.

Of course, you can always refuse to teach after school as well if the pay is not what you'd like.

The time doesn't matter, but teaching over your contracted 22 classes a week is what counts. My afterschool program and pay is separate from the contracted 22 hours a week where if a national curriculum class gets canceled, it doesn't effect my afterschool pay. Both are in same classroom and for same employer so it's legal. Just separate dealings.
