Over the last several weeks the Korean government has been running a small ad in the local English language newspapers seeking "suggestions" as to how foreigner discrimination could be reduced (with prizes to be awarded for the best suggestions). March 31st was the last day for submissions.
Did any of you submit suggestions? If so, have you received any reply(ies)? |

dang, I didn't hear 'bout this either. I would have won a prize for sure:
"The best way to eliminate foreigner discrimination is to eliminate foreigners. If there are no foreigners to be discriminated against, then there will be no discrimination." |

Hi,
ATEK wrote a letter of input on behalf of their members. You can see it on the website. |

1, 3, 4 don't seem to actually address anything discriminatory, and 5 is a pretty vague as to what it would directly to do address discrimination.
The only thing that remotely addresses what was asked was point 2.
Not a terribly strong showing for an organization that is in such a great position to help.
I'd humbling recommend the government trash this and not give ATEK the time of day.
Archiving criminal checks and health checks is pointless.
Even in north america if your criminal check is more than a couple months old they often tell you to get a new one. |
