Well my girlfriend does. I explained that it is a pain in the arse with concrete walls, but she went ahead and ordered them anyways.

Now I need a drill. Does anyone know where I could rent one? Or possibly have one I could borrow?(for a reasonable price/deposit whatever)

I'm in Seoul, near Kyunghee University, but could travel anywhere nearby (or Suwon even as I have friends there).

Thanks for your help.

You would almost need a dyna-bolt and drill the holes with an impact drill or something. I wouldn't back myself to hang a shelf here. Surely there is some kind of service that does it for you.

My girlfriend is Korean so I guess she might be able to figure that out herself...

I still like the do-it-yourself approach, though. I did a little research and it seems the screws and brackets that came with the shelves will work.

Just those plastic sheaths that go inside the hole and then the screw goes inside them.

I ended up picking up a drill from g-market last week. It was about 25,000. It came with masonry bits, but it was still a pain in the arse to drill the concrete. You're welcome to borrow it if you'll give me a deposit, I'm in Sanbon (line 4). PM me

Last time I was in Homeplus, they had some decent gear for a decent price. They had the fancy Makita cordless drills for around 180,000. And the exact same Makita drill except plain dark green for 100,000. That will last for 20 years. Or a Chinese one for 25,000 that will last from any where between one job and the rest of your time in Korea.

if you or your girlfriend work at a public school, try asking your maintenance person to borrow the school one. my boyfriend's school lent us one no problem.
sorry if this isn't an option for you, but i hope it helps anyone else who has this problem and does a search...

Good advice. The maintenance dude at my school came around and put up some blinds for me.
