Less than a year after they were introduced, the Bank Of Korea today announced that it will be withdrawing the 50,000 Won note in order to change it's color.

The bank's spokesman, Kim-Jo-Ki said "We have received a number of complaints from people who are confusing the new 50,000 note with the existing 5000 note, as the two are of a similar color, and so we have decided to issue a full recall of the 50,000 note in order avoid any further problems. We apologise for any inconvenience, but urge users to take any 50,000 notes they may have to their local bank as soon as possible where they can exchange them for 10,000 notes free of charge."

Kim added that the Bank will run a competition to choose a new color for the note, saying "we welcome any ideas as to what the new color should be, obviously the only colors that would be unsuitable are blue (1000), brown (5000) and green (10000). Those wishing to submit their ideas can do so at any Kookmin Bank branch before April 17th."

Though I do wish they would've made them pink or red from the beginning. The 5,000 is too similar to the 50,000.

Apirl Fools, they are not changing a new note any time soon. I did get 10 of these and tried to pass one off as a 5,000 at a Family Mart 2 weeks ago. Lucky for me, they don't accept these notes.
