|
|
I am finally ready to sell this custom built system. Total storage capacity is approx 9-10 TB. I lost count after the first 12 hard drives.
Anyway, 80% of the storage is 720 - 1080p MKV rips. (hundreds of classic HD movies). Each movie ranges anywhere from 4 - 12 gigs.
I've got boxsets of a tons of movies and tv series.. (Aliens, Die Hard, Batman, Spiderman, Star Wars, Godfather, Deadwood) Basically if its a classic then I have it.
In addition there are approx 2 TB of Xbox 360 back-ups (over 300+ region free games).
Case:
NZXT Whisper case (houses up to 16 hard drives)
Inside:
Intel Core 2 Quad Cpu (Q6600) 2.4 ghz (currently running vista ultimate)
4 Gig ddr2 1066
8800 Nvida GT (can game but i dont use it for that purpose)
Asus P5K series (incl 6 on board sata and esata)
2 - 4 port raid cards (supports 8 sata hard drives)
LG - dvd/cd writer
6 - sata removable mobile rack enclosures
400 watt psu (quite)
17 sata hard drives
(almost all the hard drives are 500 gig each, although some are 1.5 TB and 1 TB drives which are green western digitals, and the rest are either samsung or seagate)
Liquid Cooling:
Koolance Exos 2.5 series with CPU-350AC cooling block. (no i havnt overclocked the cpu)
The Exos-2.5 possesses triple 120mm fans and an extended heat exchanger for approximately 1000W of cooling capacity. Its powerful PMP-400 pump also better assists systems with multiple blocks, splitters, and other components that naturally reduce flow and pump pressure.
The Exos 2.5 can cool a lot more than just 1 cpu block.. keep that in mind.
Other stuff:
Wireless ms optical mouse and keyboard.
External sata hard drive (the one u just pop the hard drive into for quick access)
2 port pci sata card
HP 3055 all-in-one laser printer
I also have tons of wires, cables, screws, connectors and other accessories the techy would need to build computers.
As i've said, this is a custom build computer. It works great and no problems since i've built it. This is my 6th computer build to date, so i've got a pretty good idea when it comes to reliability.
I am more comfortable selling this system to a computer enthusiast. I've spent a lot of time and effort putting together this system and it would be nice to hand it over to someone that can appreciate the kind of work that went into building it.
I am not going to put up a price just yet. PM for those who are seriously interested. The total cost i've put into this computer would be approx 4 mil won, if not more.
The reason I am selling this system is that i really no longer have the time to keep up this hobby, so its time to let it go. Thought i'd never hear those words.
Anyway, if interested pm me.
EDIT:
There are other things this computer comes with that I've forgotten to mention, so expect to see more editing.
HDTV Tuner card
Video switch box (used to connect two computers to run on one lcd tv)
small set of speakers
trendnet wireless router including the usb receiver.

I remember when I helped you build that sick computer. I think you were adding 2 new hard drives per month. It was fun when u roomed with me.
Wish it was mine!!
Good luck with your sale. This is a solid computer for anyone interested. I know exactly whats in it, for those inquiring. |

So your selling points are the water cooling and data stored on the hard drives? 'Cuase it would hardly play the latest games.
How much were you thinking of selling this system for? |

Sure, it wouldn't have any problems playing the latest games at a low res/low settings/noAA/AF.
I had the exact same system a few years ago (sans all the HDDs and data) and it struggled to play Oblivion on high settings. Crysis killed it. |

Well I am not a big gamer pc wise, hence the 2 TB of xbox 360 games. I do remember playing Crysis. It was actually one of the first games I played on it. And I had no problems and no lag. It worked fine. as for high res settings, never tried because it seemed to run fine.. anyway, um an xbox gamer.
It will play all the new games.. only thing that needs upgrading would be the vid card if your going for high res settings.
Anyway um not trying to say its a gaming system, as that should be pretty obvious. but with a vid card upgrade it will run high res games no problemo.
As for a price? havnt posted one yet. just taking offers at the moment. if i dont accept the offers then i'll post a price. |

| I was willing to offer 6 million for this bad boy. But Im not sure if I can " fully appreciate the time and effort" that went into building this system. God luck with your sale. |

Yep....an aging computer with a water block and a ton of hard drives...yawn. Many water cooled systems don't run any better than air for a reasonable overclock. The argument "the CPU lasts longer cooler" is fine, but when is the last time a CPU failed under near-normal conditions? Heck, 386's are still chugging away. Anyhow, overclocking doesn't reap the same rewards these days...GPU is the bottleneck on most every computer, what with quad cores pretty much the norm.
No, the computer in the OP won't "game" well at all. It is more of a server/mule than anything.
And...a 400w. PSU running all that?! Hard to believe. |

I think there are legitimate reasons to run a water-cooling rig. But this set up is not it. This is not a gaming computer, it'd be great as a file/web server. I would laugh at the moron that would pay anything near 4M for this rig. I'd give around 1M for it. After all, after i drop a 5790 in there, another 2GB of RAM i'll be up past 2M. Throwing a bunch of HDD's in a case doesn't justify an enormous price jack. If someone bought this rig and the water cooling leaked and destroyed the whole thing would you give a full refund? |

Umm...
The OP never specified a price. In fact, he made it clear he was just taking offers.
Why are people complaining? |

Because he said:

And most people who paid that much would probably not sell for much less than they put into it, otherwise it's better to just keep it. If the dude has put in 4+ M KRW into this PC even if he sells for 50% off the price is still way too high. That's the point. |

The costs of hoarding massive amounts of data. I know them all too well... *sigh*
Judging by the amount of data the OP has amassed, I'd say he and I were fairly similar about a year ago. I used to hate deleting things 'cause there was always this thought lingering in my mind about watching all of it one day and just having these awesome catalogues on hand. Then I finally convinced myself it's just too absurd to hold onto everything that I can just re-download later on.
Watch me completely regress into my addiction once petabyte drives hit stores. |

| I'd say the 17 hard drives are the selling point here. A major movie buff would enjoy all that space..........otherwise its an aging system which doesn't even need watercooling.....unless the potential buyer is a mad overclocker/movie buff!! |
