Does anyone know any foreigner that has been convicted of a DUI here in Korea? What was the penalty? Was their visa automatically cancelled? I know some Koreans that have had a DUI and they lost their license for 100 days and had to pay a fine. Just wondering if they take a harder stand on non-Koreans to try and send a message.

My American friend blew a 0.16 and paid 1.9 million + cancelled license but Noh Mu Hyun pardoned DUIers. He said all the other gutterballs at the checkpoint and the police station got the same treatment.

Depends on who you know, and what you have to offer them depending on the circumstances. Not joking. Yes, I know what you're talking about, and no, I will not extrapolate.

Exactly same situation with an acquaintance of mine. She was caught driving drunk, lost her license and was fined. She continued to drive anyway and got caught driving drunk again, without her license because of the previous offense, so they fined her again and kept her license a while longer. Last I heard she was still driving anyway.
