|

I've been souping up to by a PS3 for about a week now and God of War 3's lack of English support was a wake up call for me. I played Call of Duty: World at War on the XBOX360 with English voice / Korean menus and it was a frustrating experience that I'd like to avoid in the future. The backs of the game boxes can be confusing (point in case: Gears of War says it has Korean menus but then you play it and it's full English.)
Here's a list of the games I am interested in eventually playing. If anyone has, or knows anything about the following games I'd appreciate information on what to expect from a Korean release of the game.
blue text is taken off a website my friend relies on, any firsthand experience with these games would be welcome.
God of War 3 Korean language only
Demons Souls English and Korean
MAG
Valkyrie Chronicles Unavailable
Rachet and Clank Future English
Resistance
Resistance 2 - English
Warhawk
Killzone 2 Korean and English
LittleBigPlanet English
Assassins Creed 2 Korean Text
Heavy Rain English
Folks Soul - Korean and English
FIFA 10 - English audio, Korean text/menu
Ninja Gaiden 2 - English/Japanese Audio, English text
Metal Gear Solid 4 - English/Japanese

Assassin's Creed 2 is in Korean.
Same with Little Big Planet.
I ordered both off Play Asia.
Uncharted 2 wasn't on that list but it's all in English and is one of the best PS3 games out there. Definitely worth buying. |

| I have heard that it depends on what your system's language is set to. My Little Big Planet is Asian, but everything runs in English (but I cannot buy any add-ons). |

assasin's is korean text, english voice and I didn't have a problem finishing the game.
Demon's soul's and Heavy rain are multiple languages on the disc.
Also this thread just killed my limited interest in God of war 3. |

Here's a website my friend uses for info. It's a Korean guy trying to sell Korean games abroad, so he lists all the pertinent info. BUT, does KOREAN SUBTITLE mean subtitles or menus? damn confusing.
http://www.qwergame.com/ps3.aspx
I have updated my original post to reflect your responses. Eventually I will clean this thread up, add the xbox360 info I already have and post a "games to import" thread.
I only posted the games that I was unsure of here, A friend had already told me about uncharted 2 so I didn't add it. If there are any games not on this list that you have played and and had trouble with the language, please let me know. I'll add it to the list.
I will post some limited info from that website, perhaps only if SUBTITLE says KOREAN and ENGLISH... |

Also matters what address and credit card you register on the store... I've been able to d/l English games/demos/content on my K-PS3 no problem using my Canadian cred. card and address |

XBOX360 has similar problems with DLC being region specific and Microsoft points being region specific as well. I have a US account through a US debit card so no dramas there, but friends have run into problems when wanting to recharge their Korean accounts. Seems like your account region is tied to your credit card's country of origin.
My PlayStation friend has circumvented the DLC problem by establishing separate PSN ids for all the regions he owns games for. So a Korean ID (prob through wife because don't u need a resident id number?), a US/Canadian ID, and a Hong Kong ID for Play-Asia games. I talked to him a long time ago about this... I'll refresh myself and maybe revise this post. |

This is a good post - sticky worthy.
FIFA 10 - English audio, Korean text/menu
Ninja Gaiden 2 - English/Japanese Audio, English text
Metal Gear Solid 4 - English/Japanese
P.S. Is that GOW3 purchased from Play Asia? That would suck if it was all Korean. |

I updated the original post. to Red Devil: God of War 3 off playasia should be cool, a few posters here have order it, yeah? It's just the Korean release you should avoid.
Anybody else got any info about these games or other games to avoid domestically? |

My standard (non GOTY) Korean edition of LBP is fully English. Like a previous poster mentioned, it's acquiring the DLC that is the problem.
I've actually never seen a Korean version of Valkyria Chronicles. I checked Gmarket and the only available copy is really expensive and from America, if any of that helps.
Off topic but Demons Souls and Valkyria Chronicles are easily two of the best games on the PS3. |

I heard everything is in English except for the menus. I hear the menus are all in Korean. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I want Uncharted 2 (although I'm fluent in Korean, English is just much easier for me). |

I just double checked. Uncharted 2 is in English (voices, subs, menus, everything) and apparently supports Korean subs/menus as well if it's set as the language. |

No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise. (HD version of 1st game - Korean Version)
English/Japanese voices
Main menus are in English
Subtitles, Tutorial, Item names, and item descriptions are in Japanese.
Hopefully others won't be as confused as I was. |
