My current visa expires on Feb 28th, I'd like to go home for March and start work again from say MArch 28th or April 1st.
Could I do a Visa transfer for this or will I need a new E2? |

Visa expires or ARC expires?
Gap of 30 days or less, paperwork completed (new job, contract, sponsorship guarantee, extension paid, etc) BEFORE you leave and it is do-able.
Gap of 31+ days or paperwork NOT completed before you leave and you start all over again from scratch (new E2).

Hmm, good question. Both I think. My first contract was from Nov 09-Nov 10, I then signed an extension untill February 28th 2011.
The new job I wants starts on April 1st, pretty much exactly 31 days after!
Edit: Oh, and thank you for the help |

They are NOT the same. Your visa will have (depending on your nationality) an expiry date that is 1 year from date of issue (if you are American) and 90 days from date of issue for everyone else.
Your ARC will expire (unless you have extended it during your stay) 1 year from your (initial) date of entry into Korea on your visa.
You better check and be sure.
If your visa expires while you are here it is no big deal.
If your ARC expires and you are in the country you are in for a world of inconvenience.

I can forget about my new job for a while. Tonight I just found out I actually now have a bigger problem I need to deal with!
My bag was stolen tonight and my passport was inside, so I need to apply for a new one. I was just told by the British embassy it will take around 4 weeks to get me a new one and they warned me not to book my flight untill it arrives
My ARC is due to expire on Feb 28th, there is no way my passport will be ready before then. How can I get an extension of sojourn (or whatever it's called) without a passport or a flight ticket? I do have photocopies of my passport info page and visa page though. Any ideas?
Again, thanks you for all your help |

Go to immigration and tell them what is happening.
Talk to them before hand when you can sit at the counter ...
or talk to them after when you are sitting in an interrogation room and have other issues to deal with as well. |
