Any person who lives/lived in and teaches/taught in Andong, please share your thoughts. Also, do you know of any hagwon(s) (good or bad) that cater to adults? Thanks a bunch! |

I've never taught/lived there - although I've visited the Andong Mask Festival. Andong is 'isolated rural' and it has the best bass fishing in Korea (Andong is famous for bass fishn'). |

I haven't lived there before, either, but I did pass through a couple of times.
The Andong soju is 30 bucks, and it's the real deal.
Not sure if you're happy to live that far from an IMAX theater, but if you want to get the "real" Korean experience, it's worth a shot. |

Haven't lived there, but lived in a town near Andong. Andong has about 180,000 people. It is about an hour from Daegu and I believe 3 hours to Seoul by bus. Yeongju is a little bigger, and about 30 minutes away.
There is one movie theater there owned by Cinus. Western food might be hard to find, unless you like Koreanized burgers or pizza. The last time I've been there was in 2007, so things may have changed. Nice little town, and by Korean standards it's considered rural. But by my standards it is a large little city. If you're not into that kind place, many foreigners like going into Daegu or Seoul. And I think the last bus to leave from Seoul, or Daegu, back to Andong is around 10 pm. |
