I am guessing you will be teaching there.
After checking their site I noticed a couple things I thought were funny:
Quote: |
Q. Which diploma will the student receive upon graduation?
All students graduating from DIS will receive dual diplomas- one from Lee Academy, a prominent U.S. college preparatory high school, and the other from Daegu International School, the first accredited international school in Korea. |
Um, I think you should let your boss or webmaster know that the other international schools in Korea such as KIS, SIS, SFS, etc. are all accredited schools.
Quote: |
Q. Should Korean students have the 3 year overseas residency record as other foreign schools in Korea have such requirement?
No. As DIS is an international school located in the Free Economic Zone, students of all nationalities are welcome to apply to DIS and there is no such rule. |
This means 99.9% of your students will be Korean, and pretty much the school can expect to be very heavily an ESL school. Since I guess you are aiming this information for prospective parents, parents should be aware that their kids will most likely be the only "native" English speakers in their class. |

Nah, I am not teaching at the school. Nor am I applying or working at the school. Somebody from city hall asked me to do them a favor and get the word out.

There is some technicality on that where it is actually true. The other schools are foreign schools, but this is the first school to open that is 100% run and owned by an Non-Korean organization. I don't quite remember the specifics, but that was what I was told. From my point of few, it's a technicality and I agree with you.

Not true. Since the school is located in a FEZ, 30% of the students can be comprised of Korean students. After 5 years (Or maybe 7, I don't remember off-hand), the ratio is reduced to 15%. |

This school is the same thing as Songdo International School in Incheon has setup. A foreign run IS in an economic development zone.
Those looking for some information, might want to research Songdo to see what the % of Korean passport holders are, and how much ESL is a factor in the classroom. |

Just FYI, Songdo International School is not open yet.
This thread is only for informational purpooses for those people should they want to attend. I do not want to engage in a public debate on this matter.
Any further inquiries can be done via PM. (Like others have done) |
