I wasnt to go to Korea first and then look for a job. The cheapest round trip air fare I can fine is over $1000 US. I was told I could not buy a one way. Does anyone know where I can get a very cheap ticket and if there is anyway around the having to buy the round trip ticket since I wont yet have a teaching visa?
All help would be appreciated.

Check out flightcentre.com. They are very cheap.
There is no surefire way around the one way ticket on a tourist visa issue. Travel agents and airline desks will tell you that you cannot buy or board without proof of onward travel. You might be able to convince a travel agent to sell you a one-way ticket, but that doesn't mean that the airline check-in will say yes. I've personally had situations where myself and friends couldn't get past the airline check-in without proof of onward travel and I recommend to avoid the hassle.
My advice is to 1) check Flightcentre.com for cheap round-trip tickets.
2) if you can find a cheap one-way ticket to enter Korea , then contact www.kangsantravel.com and buy a one-way ticket to Japan on the JR Beetle hydrofoil and have them mail or email you the itinerary. Show the airline check-in desk your boat itinerary to Japan as your proof of onward travel.
3) Use a really big picture of yourself for your avatar and wait for the mods to PM you about it. |

Sorry, I was using sarcasm.. ...The picture on your avatar is too big and expands the threads that you post on. The moderators of this site like to keep things clean and neat for everybody, so expect a PM from them, unless you make the image smaller. |

chronicpride gave some good advice. It's not really necessary to buy a round-trip ticket, though $1000 sounds pretty good for one to me. Then again, I'm not a bargain flyer by nature. I usually just hop on orbitz.com and buy the $700 United tickets one-way to Korea and rack up the mileage bonuses.
Just buy a one-way and then either buy a refundable, cancellable onward ticket, or check out the hydrofoil site. |
