I've been in Korea for two years now with the same academy, but I need to move on cometh the fall. The school is great, but I need time to self-study and prepare for grad school in the States after a year.
Basically, what's the best way to land a job with SMOE while living in Korea? Can I directly apply to them? Or do I have to work through a recruiter? If you have applied while in Korea, how did you go about it?
Also, does anyone know if I apply to both Gangnam District Office of Education AND SMOE, I will be disqualified for a position? They are part of the same system, but separate at the same time. I've heard you can't play your cards through multiple recruiters for public school jobs.
Thanks. |

You are here.
You have some K-friends?
You have an area that you prefer to work in?
Write your resume up. Get a K-friend to help you with adding the K-translation to make it bilingual.
Do the same for your cover letter.
Drop it off at schools that you want to work for.
Drop 10 and you will get an interview.
Drop 25 and you WILL have a job (standard contract) but at least you get the lay of the land first.
Have a complete set of documents ready for the time you want to sign on the dotted line.
You can also use a recruiter but then you are just one more in the stack.
