Wonder why Americans are fat while the French are not? You can blame it on corn. U.S. corn is in almost every food product made in the U.S. and it's making everybody fat & sick - even the cows.

Check out King Corn movie in 4 parts.

There is actually a really good documentary about this called King Corn. You can get it at a Blockbuster (in the States). You can also rent it on the Itunes store.

I thought this was going to be a thread about annoying questions Korean kids ask. Teacher, why Americans are fat? Why American cows are sick? Why your arm has hair?

I'm not so sure about that. The obesity epidemic has certainly spread to Australia in a big way and I believe also the UK.

But the only things in Australia and the UK that contain corn is corn. Cane sugar is used instead of High Fructose Corn Syrup. But still we are getting fatter and fatter.

So, you're calling the kettle black?

Is the subsidization for corn in the US to make up for the shortfall created by its use in biofuels (and hence rising cost of corn)??

Think it's fair to say sugars from whatever source are used too much. Kids sitting around playing videos games, sucking back umpteen gallons of colas/carbonated bevs, snacking on mega trans fat products and generally eating too many processed foods are going to get friggen fat!

It's the corn!? I thought it was growth hormones to yield more weight on the hoof inadvertantly going up the food chain. OK, it's in the corn based feed. Something is definitely badly wrong with the food back home and we know it has to do with corporate agriculture altering it to maximize yield for profits, but with huge supply, the prices stayed low allowing people to eat too much. Omaha we have an eating too much corn problem.
