|
|
I'm heading out and have to take a long bus ride to Seoul, to the Nam-bu bus terminal. From there I'm told it's a 2+ hour bus ride to the Incheon airport. So I figure I might as well head up a day early and get a room. I guess near the Nam-bu bus terminal would be best, and then take the bus to the airport the next day.
The Koreans say just walk around and pick a hotel. Well, I've got an armful of luggage. So it would be nice to get a suggestion, even if it is a short cab ride to the hotel.
Any suggestions are welcome. |

If memory serves correctly, the bus ride from Nam-bu to ICN shouldn't take that long; maybe an hour and a half. Anyways, there are LOADS of love motels directly across the street from Nam-bu terminal, all within easy walking distance. Just head out exit 6 (I think... the one that takes you out on the NW side of the intersection) and walk down the back streets. You can check out some of them on www.hotel.co.kr. Most of the hotels listed for Seocho (서초) are very near the bus terminal.
Have a good trip! |

I often stay at a small love motel near Nambu terminal, have stayed there over two dozen times over the years, always the same place because for 45,000 won (was 40,000 when I first went there) it is warm, clean with in-room Internet computer and big bathtub and decent cable tv.
The only thing is, I've forgotten the name, as I automatically go there without thought on my trips to Seoul. It has a pink sign. head from Nambu terminal past Lotteria (same direction as you were heading when you crossed the street to get to Lotteria) heading down the hill on the Lotteria side of the street. then turn at the first corner, a sort of alley side road, with a restaurant on your immediate left. Walk about 30m and turn right at the little parking stall attendant booth, basically the first right on that side street, then you will see it on your left, the second or third place, just past a parking lot (the draped cover spaghetti-like rubber covering entrance). Again, look for a pink sign. The front staff is friendly and the rooms are decent. I usually stay in 103 or 203 or 303, though the end of hallway rooms are bigger they don't have as big a bathtub.
Good luck whatever. |

I think I found the place.
You go across the street toward Lotteria, keep going downhill and take a left at the IGA Mart. Walk past the transgender bar and take a right at the first narrow street. It says Plum Motel.
45 kobuks gets you a room with cable, AC, computer and internet, water cooler with tiny frig, free toothbrush and razor, a bathtub and two condoms on your pillow.
I am on the F floor, between 3rd and 5th.
Yes it is warm. Have to run the AC to counter the ondol.
Highly recommended.
Thanks, VanIslander!

Oh, I was excited to see a Burger King at the bus terminal, until I looked at the menu closely. They put bulgogi sauce on the Whoppers! Yeccchhhh! |

THAT's the place! (I forgot about the IGA Mart because it wasn't there for the first several years I went there). Glad you found it. Yeah, cozy warm in the winter. They don't skimp on the ondol, and it is very clean for a love motel. Cozy with good facilities. A solid value. I will keep going there.

The Pizza Hut across the street is the only food in the area I eat. Though the Plum Motel staff is helpful if you want food delivered. Just tell them what and they will do it for you. |
