Hi - this is just to share info - we went to find the Dr Fish Cafes in Hongdae today and they are no longer there. The tourism office guy said they closed down and the only cafe he knows of with the fishy friends is the Gangnam one - exit 6, walk straight for 2 mins and its on the 2nd floor above the BSX clothing store. It's called "rest with book and coffee" cafe or something like that. It's 2000 won.
Hope this saves others wasting 3 hours hunting in Hongdae! |

Is that the thing where you stick your feet in the water and the fish eat the bad stuff off them?
That's what I want to do! Stick my feet in water that hasn't been changed in a while. The same water that people with stinky, dirty...possibly infected feet stick theirs...awesome.
There was a thing about this on Korean TV about a year ago. I suggest you stay away. |

Hi Goon
The thing I really don't like about this website is how people use it as a soap box to be rude and rant. You could have given your advice without the nasty sarcasm.
For future reference, your wash your feet before you use the pool and after and then the staff spray disinfectant over your feet. Also, they check your feet to make sure they aren't infected before hand.
We all really enjoyed it, it won't be to everyones tastes, but I just wanted to help people find the place if they wanted to go there. |

Korea is pretty much the epitome of free markets in action. If some one comes up with a good idea, someone else will steal it and open up a store across the street. Then some one will do the same thing. The one that is cheapest will win. If one of the stores is dodgy, it will be all over the internets in five minutes. Reputation and price are everything in Korea. It's cut throat. The winner is the consumer.
On a related note. You can't get fish enemas.....I mean feet cleanings in the States because they are regulated out of existence. Be thankful that in Korea you have the right to make an informed choice about your own health (at least in this area), and do something fun and entertaining and possibly good for your health. |

Sarcasm works. If they wash and clean your feet that's fine and all...but fungal infection? A quick wash will get rid of that? I'm just telling you what I saw on the news. As for Koreans washing your feet....ever seen what they wash their fllors and hospitals with. Water. Are you sure it's disinfectant they are using? Or is it some cheap chemical concoction to fool you into thinking they are cleaning your feet? Cheapness is an artform here. It is to be applauded. that's cultural...not me being an ass.
Edit: And unless I see a verified Ph.D and their CRC I aint callin no fish doctor. I want an AIDS test too. Those little buggers bit you. |

I did it once. There's a place in Incheon, in Art Center that's pretty good.
I wouldn't do it again, though. It's Russian Roulette. Fungal infections can't just be washed off. If you must, do it once, but I'd recommend against regular use. Find a clean pedicure shop and have your feet buffed there. |
