Anyone having a problem? For the last week I haven't been able to watch anything on youtube without waiting ages and ages. It's been unwatchable, even in SD.
I've tried other video sites with no problem. I'm in Busan. |

I have SK and it's slow where I have to wait a few minutes for a video to load. |

I'm wondering if there is some traffic-shaping going on. Maybe Youtube is getting too much traffic. I don't know.
Strange, because I haven't met any Korean people who say they use Youtube. Everybody just chants....wait for it...

Korea is not shaping traffic at all. They aren't limiting torrents or any such thing. Korea has no DPI in effect; they don't even know what folks are downloading. Korea is still behind the ball, thankfully; busting websites, not ports, protocols or programs.
There is a local problem or your comp is borked. |
There was a bit of a fight between Google/youtube and the Korean government. Some suspect that youtube might actually be getting bit for it. I routinely find many youtube videos to be slow regardless of location or what I'm using (ipod touch on local wifi, on my wibro egg, pc at home, friend's laptop, etc) |

You're irrelevant Mr. 11/2009.

I'm in the same boat. I'm only mentioning it because it is ridiculously slow now and other international sites are working fine. Everything else, including downloads, are working just great.
I didn't realize that there was some fighting going on between Korea and Youtube. That would explain things. |

I'm in Seoul with KT and I've been having the same problem...but with other sites also. Torrents work fine, but youtube and wtso (watch the simpsons online) are, like the op said, practically unusable.
op, if you have suggestions on a fix i'd like to hear it! thanks! |

Just guessing here, but it may have something to do with their new setup with vevo, whatever vevo is. The video quality is HUGELY better, that's for sure...no longer seems like you're swimming through mud when watching a vid. Definitely better to pause the vid as soon as it begins and let it buffer for a couple minutes though. |

I had this problem, randomly, a few months ago here in the US, then it went away. In the meantime, I used http://www.hidemyass.com/proxy-list/ . Don't ask me why, I don't remember where I found out about that helping, but it did. |

I swear it has to be some sort of retribution from Google.
Youtube is pretty much unusable for me in Seoul using QOOK.
I have absolutely no problem with speed on anything else. I can even stream HD videos without buffering on my ps3 |

Maybe you should invest in some proper headphones.
There is a direct relationship between fast DL speed and refined hearing ability. |
