OK, here's the deal. I want some advice from you guys on what camera I should get. I will probably go to Yongsan next week to buy it, and want a price in mind when I talk to the guy trying to rip me off.
I'm upgrading from a very old Cybershot camera I got in 2005. The thing looks like a brick, and people always comment on it when I pull it out. It's only 5.1 megapixels, but it takes great pictures because I know how to use the manual function on it very well.
So, here is what I want.
I want a camera with the following qualities:
- great MANUAL controls
- smallish, light
- 300,000-500,000 price range
- takes 10-12ish+ megapixel shots
- very high quality
Basically, I want a camera I can whip out at anytime and take a shot. But I do love photography, so I want one where I HAVE THE OPTION to take very artistic photos with.
So, good people of Dave's ESL. What are my options, and what is your personal recommendation? I think I've been wowed a bit by Canon and Nikon, but please tell me the model #. |

Canon G11, tho it may go beyond your price range, or S90 for a bit cheaper but fewer manual controls. |

Canon G11 would be great, but it's a bit big. The G10 is great as well, but not nearly as good as the G11.
I have a Lumix LX3 and love it. It's small and light. Takes amazing photos. It has been out for at least a year, so you should be able to get it for less than they are selling on GMarket. |

I'm researching cameras in this range right now and this seems to be good advice. |

The price of an LX3 have dropped. I think they sell for around 500,000.
That would be my vote. If you could squeeze another 100,000 from your wallet then the Canon S90 would be handy! |
