The question about what to do with North Korea is an incredibly difficult one to give an answer to.
Please consider the hypothesis above, choose one of the options and share your views... |

The last 50 years should tell you the US should avoid conflicts. Nothing but arrogance, lies, poor planning and chaos. |

He says while enjoying the benefit of living in a free, open, capitalist South Korea. Oh the hypocrisy... |

There are enough posters on this board that would disagree with you about South Korea being free and open to render that part of your statement implausible at best. And in fairness, capitalism isn't exacyly the best of all possible worlds, unless you happen to be Candide.
It's true when the other poster says that America has made a hames of every conflict it's been in over the last fifty years. The Afghans have as much of a right to say that they destroyed Communism as Americans do-at least they actually went to war with them, for a start. (and yes, they were helped out by the Americans, but that doesn't really constitute being "in" the war". |

With U.S. aid, as soon as Kim Jung Il dies, it would be a good time to strike. The internal chaos would make North Korea have a gooey center, once they break through the front lines, which is mostly just a poorly equipped, low resource shadow army, it would be smooth sailing to Pyongyang.
However, considering the involvement of China, it's a though proposition to make.
It's probably safer to just wait until the regime collapses naturally, which will happen within our lifetimes, I guarantee it. |

I'm strongly in favor of the use of neutron bombs on all government property. Well, 'government property' is the entire country, but you know what I mean - any/all buildings where government officials congregate. The great thing about neutron bombs is that they irradiate to death all living flesh within a very localized area whilst leaving anything nonliving untouched. Civilian causalties, if we play our cards right, will be very minimal, if any, such are the blessings of the neutron bomb! |

Military action would be a bad idea, and the US doesn't really need to involve itself on yet another front. Let Asia sort out Asia.
Of course, that would never happen, and the US won't pull out of Asia for a while. |

I wouldn't mind teaching in communist Korea if such were the outcome of the war. It's just that other countries might be more lucrative in that case. |

What does being against attacking North Korea have to do with living in a free society? |

I voted against it because of the lame terminology used. I don't like the phrase 'pre-emptive strike'. Why not just call it what it is, an attack? |

The last thing the South Korean wants is forced unification via conflict.
Why?
How the hell are the South Koreans going to give support, feed, re-educate, and assimilate the entire North Korean populace? Do you think North Koreans are just going to stay where they are?
North Korea collapses and you'll have millions of people coming South.
Don't forget the millions of North Koreans that will try to flee to China. I doubt the Chinese military is going to allow all of them to just waltz into China.
I would imagine that in any conflict, China would take over North Korea and make it a province, or they would put their army on the Chinese/Korean border and shoot any North Korean trying to enter their country.
Meanwhile in the South, the South Korean military would be guarding the DMZ keeping the North Koreans in their country until the government can decide what to do with all of the refugees. Seoul isn't too far fom the border, and I don't think South Koreans would want hordes of hungry, brainwashed, and frightened North Koreans just walking around Gangnam. |

NK just likes to talk big. I doubt they'll ever do anything anytime soon. Why create more war right now? |

China would never 开绿灯 such a strike. And America wouldn't dare hit North Korea without tacit Russian and explicit Chinese approval. |
